- This was the gorgeous Charlie
George died on Saturday 19th September 2009.
Age: 7.5, born February 2002
Nickname: Georgey, Mr George.
Background: He was bought from Pets At Home at the same time as his late best mate, Charlie.
Personality: Well, Georgey’s certainly changed throughout the years, but then lots has happened to him. He used to be a very quiet piggie, but, over the years, he has changed, especially after the death of his long-term hutchmate, Charlie.
Charlie died over a growth under his belly last year. Well, he passed away following an operation to remove the lump, which he woke up from, then died three hours later. That’s when I bought Freddie and Arch.
After Charlie died, George is a lot more socialable with humans, but not other piggies. He loves the attention, adores running around the house and likes hanging around watching TV. In fact, he’s more like a dog than a guinea pig now.
He’s had a lot of health problems, including blindness to his left eye, severe weight loss and an infection which meant a lot of his fur went. Although he eats loads and has lots of energy, he is still underweight, but the vet thinks there’s an internal problem. As I am fully aware of the risks of using antibiotics on guinea pigs, I have decided to let it all be. He’s happy so I’ll leave him alone.
Mr George is very intelligent, knows what happens on a day-to-day basis – even knowing the difference in routine on a weekday to a weekend – and is a brilliant piggie to look after. Long live Mr George!
