Carrie
- Carrie should have been called Panda Pig!
- Not the best photo, but shows she’s got some length!
Age: She turns four in April.
Nickname: Well, her full name is Carryad.
Background: I adopted her and Holly from RSPCA LancsEast in April 2008.
Personality: Carrie is very different from any piggie I ‘ve had before, and it’s not because I have adopted her, as Holly’s personality has proven.
She’s a very quiet piggie and only sqeaks if she’s in pain, mainly when the other piggies have disrupted her. She loves any dark corner and will wait patiently for food, that is until her other hutchmates have had enough – weird for a piggie, I know. But she is lovely and has the most gorgeous thick coat of fur, which is probably why she likes snuggling so much.
She lives with Hol, Arch and Elly in a double-decker hutch and I have noticed she doesn’t like going down the stairs. She can get up them, but never comes back down again. This is probably linked with the way her spine is. When I pick her up, her back legs kick out and make a “V”, like a rabbit. At one point, I was convinced she was half rabbit, half piggie – particularly because of her size, she’s very long. Anyhow, I think she may have, at some point prior to adopting her, fallen down the stairs. She can walk fine, though, and can really move when she wants to.
Carrie’s great because she gets on with anyone and is the only pig out of the six who gets on with the other five.
